I've been using a KAM with APRS 4.03, 4.04 and 4.05a with minimal difficulty.
I use the TAPR option when starting APRS. It is a little tricky to make sure
you're on the right stream and using the right alias. I set MYALIAS
ECHO/RELAY. Also be sure to set your UNPROTO path for each port. These have
to be set using CTRL-T so you c
an enter the commands directly to the TNC. As to why you get the I/O error, I
don't really know. If you've been using a program such as KaGOLD or
Hostmaster, make sure they put the TNC back into command mode before they exit.

Other than trying to get the ISO standards publication, which probably costs
an arm and a leg, how can I find out how to calculate the CRC or whatever it
is that ax.25 uses for error checking?
thanks

I seriously doubt that AEA or any TNC manufacturer other than Kantronics will
ever include G-TOR. It is my understanding that G-TOR is proprietary to
Kantronics, and therefore anyone wanting to include it would have to pay for
it, if that option was even available, which I very much doubt, as their whole
prpose in introducing something proprietory is to make themselves the only
source for it. Apple did the same thing with the Mac (and others) while IBM
left theirs essentially open. If Apple had done differently, the Mac would
have easily taken over from the PC...
Sorry for the bad news, but Pactor ia also very good, and
keyboard-to-keyboard, you would never know the difference anyway.

PK232 PK900 or DSP2232?
Want GTOR, but don't wanna have to go out and buy a new TNC!!!

are in works. No time scedule. During the same conversation
with them. They also had mentioned that they have no plans

Not hard to see why. GTOR, if it is all it is cracked up to be, should
pretty much consign CLOVER to the ash can.

=A5 IM/Mac can not run on write-protected volumes (e.g., CD-ROM). An =
alert will
show instead of a system error.

PS (by PA2AGA)
This version obsoletes all versions of info-mac/comm/radio-immac in
the Sumex-Aim archives.
The new IM/Mac has (hopefully) been uploaded to ftp.std.com, to the
directory pub/hamradio/incoming, and to ucsd.edu, to the directory
/hamradio/packet/tcpip/incoming. If it's not there (anymore),
then look at /hamradio/packet/tcpip/mac.

Use a STEREO submini (1/8") plug in MIC/SP1. Worked fine for me.

NE|Several of you have asked about the Tekk radios. Their ad appeared in
NE|the February 1994 issue of QST on page 18 (between the Kantronics ad on
NE|pages 16 & 17 and the Standard ad on page 19).
Too bad they don't have a VHF version of that little radio.

Richard, the TEKK radios work great for 9600 bd UHF. I have two of them.
One is used on a TexNet node, one here at home. I know of at least 3 others
that are being used at node sites around north TX and OK. The radio is only
2 watts but works quite well with an amp. Here's the scoop on TEKK Inc.
TEKK INC.

I don't work for them or have any connection with TEKK.
Oh, when you order the radios, be sure to ask for spec sheet and schematics.
Mine came without either.
